About Me

How I got into Tennis

Perhaps you are wondering, am I a tennis player myself? Definitely not! Interestingly enough, I enjoy watching tennis but not playing it. In fact, I have never picked up a proper racquet in my life!

I love watching tennis, especially the WTA, as I first got into tennis at the 2014 WTA Finals when it was first held in my country, Singapore. Tuning into the wrong channel allowed me to be exposed to this new, adventurous sport while also introducing to me Maria Sharapova, who would turn out to be one of the biggest inspirational figures in my life.

Since then, I have been looking to be a tennis journalist in the future. I started writing about tennis towards the end of 2016 on my personal blog, which is now defunct. However, I began my journalism career with VAVEL USA Tennis, an international sports portal which has received accreditations into many events such as the US Open, Laver Cup, Western and Southern Open, etc. I have written more than 900 articles for them in a span of two years, and I have also interviewed former World No.1 Elena Vesnina in the process. I would like to thank my editor Noel John Alberto for giving me so many opportunities and letting me improve as a potential tennis journalist throughout the entire period.
